April 30 Moon Shots

Ran outside tonight after supper and pulled out the 12 inch dob to grab some shots of the 46% illuminated moon. The focal length of the dob is 1500 mm and I had to use a 2x barlow in order to focus the camera, so in essence the focal length was 3000 mm, and some of the shots were with a really cheap 2X Barlow that I used until I realized where my good Barlow was.

I definitely need to work on my focusing skills, and I believe the atmosphere was a little wish washy tonight.

These photos are straight from the camera, no editing. I’ll leave these up for a couple of days, and then I’m gonna pull them back down in order to save space.

If you want to visit another pretty good astro-photographer, take a gander at my friend @BeckePhysics twitter feed.
